Detonations and Low-Altitude Aircraft Reported in Venezuelan Capital City Caracas City

Witness testimonies emerged of several blasts and the sound of low-altitude planes in the Venezuelan capital in the early hours of Saturday. This event has led to allegations from the Venezuelan leadership and demands for diplomatic scrutiny.

Caracas Accuses United States of Aggression

The incumbent regime has blamed the US of an act of "imperialist aggression," alleging that ex- President Donald Trump supposedly directed military strikes against the Latin American state. In an official announcement, the authorities stated that attacks had hit the capital and three other regions: Miranda state, La Guaira state, and Aragua.

"Our primary goal of this attack is to seize control of our nation's natural resources, especially its petroleum and minerals," the statement asserted.

Venezuelan officials appealed to the international community to denounce the actions, which it described a "flagrant violation of international law" that put millions of lives in jeopardy.

Reports of Blasts and Defense Installations Hit

Eyewitnesses spoke of hearing at least several powerful blasts around 2:00 AM local time. People in various neighborhoods reportedly ran into the streets.

"The whole ground shook. It was horrible. We heard blasts and jets in the area," stated one witness.

Black smoke was reported pouring from key army bases in Caracas: the La Carlota airfield and the Fuerte Tiuna military base, where leader Maduro is reported to live.

Global Response

The leader of bordering Colombia, claimed on X that "Currently they are attacking Caracas... bombing it with projectiles." He requested an urgent emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

Colombia, which recently joined the Security Council, announced it would initiate operational protocols at its shared border with Venezuela.

Preceding Events

These alleged strikes follow a extended campaign of pressure by the United States against the Venezuelan regime. Beginning in last summer, there has been a substantial American military deployment off the country's northern coast and a series of air strikes on boats accused of illegal activities.

The government has announced "the implementation of emergency" and commanded all national defence plans to be initiated. It has also summoned its citizens to protest and "reject this imperialist attack."

The White House and the Defense Department did not promptly addressed inquiries for a statement regarding the reports.
