A person who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two boys both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight children and a grown-up became sick at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on recently.
Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
The accused was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court the man had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, ointment and syringes were discovered, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the man proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The legal representative stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities once more.
She stated the defendant then played the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
