Paceman Gus Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Fitness Worries.

'Significant concern' for England as Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer increased the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over at the MCG.

The touring camp reported Atkinson reported "discomfort" and required time off the field for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The concluding match in this Ashes battle in Sydney starts this coming Sunday.

The English side has already lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was dropped from the previous Test, before being recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

Surrey's Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs while batting among just a trio of teammates to reach double figures.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

However, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
