US President Donald Trump Affirms 'Largely, Parties Are Aligned' on Next Stages of Peace Deal in Gaza

The American leader has remarked that "for the most part, parties are aligned" on how the subsequent phases of the peace deal in Gaza will work, though he acknowledged that "certain specifics … will be finalized."

"They're assembling them at present," he commented, mentioning the remaining hostages in the Gaza Strip. "They find themselves in very difficult situations."

He, who has been praised by the organization and many in Israel for his part in securing a truce agreement, remarked he thinks the accord will "be sustained" because "the parties are exhausted by the hostilities."

Planned Conference on Gaza Situation

Concurrently, Trump intends to assemble global figures for a high-level meeting on the issue during his travel to the Arab Republic of Egypt in the coming week. Attendees slated to join are delegates from the European nation, France, the United Kingdom, the Italian Republic, the State of Qatar, the Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

Based on sources, PM Netanyahu will not be present.

Trump's Itinerary

He confirmed that he would confer with a "numerous officials" in the city on Monday to talk about the future of the territory. It has been reported that he will also go to Israel, where he will address the Israeli parliament.

Significant Events

  • Many of Palestinians made their way to the largely ruined Gaza's north on Friday as a American-negotiated truce came into effect. The remaining 48 individuals—about 20 of them thought to be alive—are to be let go by Monday.
  • Questions remain over the future governance of Gaza as Israeli troops slowly withdraw and if the organization will give up weapons, as required in the president's truce agreement. PM Netanyahu, who terminated on his own a halt in fighting in March, hinted that the country might restart its operations if the group fails to relinquish its arms.
  • The United Nations was granted permission by Israel to commence distributing expanded humanitarian assistance into Gaza starting on the weekend. The relief will comprise 170,000 metric tons that have been pre-positioned in nearby nations such as the Kingdom of Jordan and Egypt as aid workers were waiting for authorization from the army to restart their operations.
  • A representative from the UN Stéphane Dujarric reported to reporters on the end of the week that petrol, healthcare materials, and vital resources have started flowing through the crossing point. Agency staff are calling for the Israeli government to open more crossing points and provide protected transit for relief personnel and civilians who are coming back to areas in Gaza that were subject to intense shelling until only recently.
  • Lebanese President the head of state censured the Israeli government on Saturday for carrying out overnight strikes on non-military sites that the health authority said resulted in at least one death. "Yet again, the region has been the object of a atrocious Israeli aggression against non-military facilities—without justification or excuse," he remarked.
  • The government shared a inventory of the Palestinian detainees that it aims to free as under the truce deal reached with the organization. Of the 250 detainees, 15 will be released in East Jerusalem, 100 to the region, and the remainder will be expelled. Originally, when representatives of the group presented a roster of suggested detainees to be freed to intermediaries in the country, they called for the release of well-known Palestinian political figures such as Marwan Barghouti. But, the prime minister's team confirmed it declines to let go him.
